Welcome to todays post and the grand finale of unfriendly friend. We will concentrate on how to avoid such friends.
I have earlier mentioned that these set of people cannot be totally done away with. They prove to us that the world is like a circus with all sorts.
How to avoid unfriendly friends?
There is no hard and fast rule to avoiding them but some of this advice will help
1. Always keep private affairs private: let friends assume there is some mystery about you. If anyone can demystify you then they can abuse you.
Do not relate family issues to non family members, do not complain about members of your family publicly also.
2. If a friendship/friend is too good to be true then they are not true
3. If all a friend does is bear tales or there is no benefit/growth from such friendship, change friends
4. If there is nothing to learn from such frienship then it is parasitic and should be done away with.
Note: Everyone needs something from friendship, dont kid yourself. the earlier you identify what you are getting from friendship the better. The earliest you identify what your friend is getting/expecting from the friendship too, the better.
everyone needs something, maybe loyalty or availability, a listening ear or finance... to deny this is to live in delusion (Pearl, 2014)
