Ever heard of Abraham Maslow? If you took a course
in human resources management, you did and you heard about his hierarchy of
needs. Researchers or Scientists may argue about the ranking or sufficiency of
his 5 needs theory but we cannot argue about the truism of his physiological
(basic) need.
Essentially, he feels the very basic of human needs
are air, water, food, clothing, shelter and maybe the need to impress the
opposite sex (no, he did not say it in those words).
I like to add two more to the list of physiological
needs above. Looking at the girl, lady and woman of this century we should
include GOOD HEALTH and PRESENTATION needs. Together they make up my complete
survival kit for a woman in harsh economic times and indeed if she is to create
wealth or control her finances.
While ‘good health’ may need no introduction to you,
it includes but is not limited to fitness, mental and psychological wellness.
Presentation needs also gets a spot because most
girls, ladies and women have begun to show more concern about their
presentation. Some may prefer to purchase a powder to combat an oily face
instead of taking a meal.
The importance of these eight needs will become more
evident as we progress in this 10 part series. We will create the link between
these and financial management. Be sure to come back tomorrow.
As usual, I encourage you to share across your
social media platforms, subscribe to blog post and I really, really would love
to read your comments below.
